All year in harbours and estuaries, most active in warmer water. Responds very well to bread groundbait.

How to recognise it
Long grey-silver body with dark horizontal lines and a thick upper lip.
Tip
Groundbait with bread and use a very sensitive float with a small hook: it mouths the bait very gently.
